SLHA’s Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program is designed to help individuals set and achieve personal and financial goals, from career growth to homeownership. Through guidance, resources, and encouragement, participants gain the tools they need to build a brighter future.
One inspiring example is Destini, a determined FSS participant who is taking charge of her future. She joined the program after hearing success stories from others and realized that with the right support, she could make her own dreams come true. Here’s how FSS is helping Destini move closer to financial freedom.
“My FSS counselor helped me bring out what I have in my head onto paper,” Destini explained. “He helped me realize this is what I want to do and can probably do with the Authority’s help.”
One of Destini’s biggest goals is purchasing her own car.
“I want a Jeep Wrangler; that’s my dream car,” she said.
For her, owning a vehicle symbolizes independence and financial progress. Through the FSS Program, she is learning to budget, improve her credit, and use resources to make this dream a reality.
Her aspirations go beyond car ownership. She is committed to building a foundation that will provide long-term security for her family, setting goals that include career advancement, homeownership, and financial stability.
